Blood Results 3 months after dosage reduction

Hi everyone

We are waiting for results to see how my husband Paul is doing at 9 months after reducing his Sprycel from 100 to 50. But in the meantime, the initial blood results are back and while his platlet count has risen again from 129 ( a bit low) to normal range at 169, his WBC has dropped from 7.3 to 3.2 which is now low. Is that ok? Ironic to worry about a low WBC when less than a year ago it was hitting 220k.

The only other number that has changed quite a bit in the last 3 months is his Eosinophil which has gone from 3 to a high of 9 ( 2 higher than at diagnosis) .

I know there was a recent discussion about how these low and high range stress everyone out because really all we want to know is , is this a true cause for concern or just normal counts for someone with CML

His oncologist didn’t flag anything when he posted his results so hope it will be good news when we get his BCR-ABL back next week.

Best to all and go England tomorrow ! My son who is an ardent German fan because of his dad , has quickly changed his allegiance to the country of his birth .

We watch so much Brit TV that we're for England, too!  Pretty much everything in the Acorn catalog for the past ten years . . .  Not to mention Brit lit is pretty much all I read, too - Trollope, Dickens, Austen, Thackeray and the moderns, of course.  I'm afraid I'm stuck in the wrong century and in the wrong country. . . But then, all my family background is German - I mean, completely.  And I sometimes feel poor beleaguered Angela Merkel is the last bastion of civilization, so I would be OK if Germany won, too.  My kids played baseball, football, basketball and lacrosse, so I know nothing about soccer and nobody should listen to me!

WBC is barely below low end of normal, probably due to low neutrophils - nothing to worry about at this time.  Do not understand Eosinophils - normal absolute is .05 - .5 and normal % is .8% - 7.2%, so I am assuming the number you gave is %??

His Eosinophils is at 9% when the range is 0-5% but hopefully that doesn’t mean anything. Sometimes my googling isn’t a good thing :) Just antsy because he did reduce his Sprycel after only 6 months and while his ABR-BCL was at 0.15. Find out next week if it’s reduced on the lower dose.

I have a very happy son now expecting England to go all the way.

kat I have a degree in English literature and specialized in Victorian literature so love all the authors you mention. We really only watch Netflix - lots of great British and European shows.
